Hugh Adams Takes 3Rd Place In The Mcgregor Trophy

Hugh Adams takes 3rd Place in the McGregor Trophy
Hugh Adams (Hagley GC) played some excellent golf over 4 rounds (13th-15th July) at Camberley Heath GC, Surrey, to claim 3rd place on 10 under par in the very prestigious English Boys' U16 Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship - more commonly known as The McGregor Trophy.
Hugh was only 3 shots off completing a fantastic age group double, after winning the Reid Trophy, the U14 version of this event, a couple of years ago.
The McGregor Trophy brings together 144 of the best U16 players, normally from right across the world, to compete for the historic trophy. Many previous winners have gone on to have very successful amateur and professional careers.
Worcestershire's U16 Team was well represented at the event with 4 other players joining Hugh in the field. James Ilsley (Stourbridge) played some solid golf to finish in a creditable 26th place, whilst Tom Blizzard, Phil Krone & Mark Hewlett played only the first two days, but all gained valuable experience.
