Hugh's had a very good showing in this year's R&A Boys Amateur Championship at Royal Cinque Ports GC. After getting through the 36 hole qualifier he won his first round of the match play stages but, unfortunately, he lost to Ross Laird (Glenbervie) in round 2 (The last 32). Well done Hugh on another good performance in a national tournament.
The R&A Boys Amateur Championships is one of the most prestigious golf events in the world and is played annually in Great Britain and Ireland. The international field attracts the best junior male golfers from around the globe and former winners include Sir Michael Bonallack, José María Olazábal, Sergio Garcia, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Adrián Otaegui, Tom Lewis and David Howell.
The champion earns exemptions to the Amateur Championship and Final Qualifying for The Open.
