Winter Knock Out Finals 2024 Results.

After a long 9 months of fighting the weather during the Winter knock out competitions, we had 8 teams from 6 clubs gather to play the finals at Blackwell Golf Club.

Congratulations to Moseley Golf Club who triumphed over The Worcestershire in the Droitwich Shield. A close contest which went to the 18th hole all square for the final pairings and the match. A couple of tough chips for both teams with Moseley finding the green in a better position to take the win, 4& 2, 1&2 and 1 up.

A close result for the Redditch Trophy with 1.5 points each for Halesowen & Hagley Golf clubs after 18 holes, with wins of 2&1 and 7&5 respectively. The halved pairing went down the 19th for a ‘sudden death’ playoff, with Halesowen winning the first extra hole to take the trophy.

The R&A Salver between Wharton Park and Little Lakes Golf Clubs, with just a single pair from each club playing better ball match play, came to an end on the 15th hole with Wharton Park 4 up with 3 to play.

The Kidderminster Cup final was delayed as we had 4 players from the Droitwich Shield final in the inter club final between teams from the Worcestershire. With lots of friendly rivalry and another close finish the first two pairings shared the honours with scores of 4&3 and 1Up. It was up to the final pairings to provide the result with a chipping contest on the last hole! It was Worcestershire A who just managed to take the trophy.

Despite the odd heavy shower and some distant thunder, it was a great day at Blackwell GC and our thanks to Club Captain, Nick Peplow for his support and help on the day; thanks also to all of the staff and members of Blackwell GC.
