Mark Hewlett Jnr wins the MGU Midland Boys Amateur Championship

St Ives GC hosted a very hotly contested Midland Boys Amateur Championship on Tuesday 9th July.

After a first round -1, 71, Mark found himself comfortably in 3rd place just 3 shots of the lead and though he very quickly caught up with the leader in the second round, it was soon apparent this competition was to be decided in a sudden death playoff with both players finishing on -2.

Nothing could split the pair after 4 holes with both under par, however Mark sealed the win on the 5th extra hole, sinking another five foot putt for birdie.
