U16 team draw against Gloucestershire

The traditional season opener for the U16’s is a friendly versus Gloucestershire. We were blessed by beautiful sunshine and spectacular views at Lansdowne GC. This year we had quite an inexperienced team after a number of players moved up to the U18’s so having a friendly was the perfect way to start the season.
After a tight foursomes session the Worcestershire boys were 3-2 down. Jake Jeff-Johnston and Theo Lowe went out first and won in style. Both boys hitting some outstanding iron shots. Ciaran Hession-Wilson and Jacob Stilivato won 3&2 after holing out with an impressive wedge shot.
A strong start to the singles saw Worcestershire take control. The biggest win of the day was 5&4 from Oskar Nielsen. Jake Jeff-Johnston continued his fine form to secure a comfortable 4&3 win. The highlight for Jake was holing out from the bunker for a fine birdie. Jacob Stilivato, Nick Campbell and Charlie Green also secured good wins. It was then left to Ciaran Hession-Wilson to gain a half that saw the overall match drawn. Our captain Ollie Ansell then produced a fine speech and the players made their way home.
I would like to thank Gloucestershire for all the organisation involved in such an event. The course was in superb condition and we were made to feel very welcome. A big thank you to our tireless junior organiser Kevin Fee who helped on the day again. Finally, thanks to the players and parents for making the long trip down to Bath and supporting us all day.
